
Biography
Active in contemporary music, Alison has performed with the Lucerne Festival Academy with conductor Pierre Boulez, the Ensemble Modern Festival Akademie, the June in Buffalo Contemporary Music Festival, the Weill Music Institute's workshop Reich on Reich at Carnegie Hall, and the Monday Evening Concert Series in Los Angeles, among others. As co-artistic director of the chamber ensemble Out of Context, she presents new works across the country and recently received funding from "Meet the Composer" MetLife Creative Connections for a tour to western NY. Alison is also the oboist of Midnight Winds. Their background includes countless premieres, outreach programs and several short-film soundtracks and 2008 marked the ensemble’s first international tour to Poland. A frequent performer on period instruments, Alison has been a guest artist with ensembles such as the Bach Collegium San Diego, Harmonia Baroque, Dallas Bach Society, Conspirare, and the Rochester Early Music Festival.
Recently, Alison received an "Investing in Artists" grant from the Center for Cultural Innovation for an extended range oboe and believes strongly in promoting music and projects that feature this incredible instrument. Alison performed in the North American premier of Wolfgang Rihm's opera "Prosperina" this summer at the Spoleto USA Festival. Her principal teachers include Robert Morgan, Richard Killmer, Allan Vogel and David Weiss and holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Southern California.
